07/2010: Plastic supply shortfall
Dramatic shortfalls in supply and massive price rises on the part of the plastics industry!
The Plastics Manufacturing Industry is currently advising of drastically increased delivery times on an unknown scale for sheet material, because of the severe bottleneck situation on the commodities market.
During the time of the Great Depression, several facilities for the production of moulding compounds (e.g. monomers and resins) which are required in the manufacture of plastic products, were demolished and scrapped. The planning and building of a new high-duty unit in Europe was also stopped due to a "business realignment".
The present situation (delivery times of over 3 months for standard materials) at the current volume trends (global growth) will not noticeably relax in the coming months.
As a consequence our company is also affected by this.
Despite foresighted material planning there is the possibility that certain materials will not be available in the usual short delivery times.
At this point it should be mentioned that prices in the last 4-6 months have risen by up to 30% - and there is no perceivable end to it.
Our employees will campaign energetically in the future to arrange the security of supply for your production, for your interests "in Plexiglas and Macrolon".
